A REPORT ON GSB YUVA SAMMELLAN – January 2010

First of its kind, a 3-day GSB Yuva Sammelan was organized by Kodial Khaber and was inaugurated at Shri Dwarakanath Bhavan Sabhagriha of Shri Gokarna Mutt, Mangalore on 18th January 2010 by the Sri Prashanth R Deshpande, the young social worker and trustee of VRDM Trust. The conference with its catchy slogan of “Retrace the roots, Recreate the future” caught the imagination of the young GSB’s who turned up in large numbers.



Dr P Dayanand Pai, the philanthropist, in his presidential speech advised young people to work hard to reach their goals. He said that one continues to feel young only if one lives happily. He advised the youth to accept challenges and expect happiness to follow these challenges. One cannot reach great heights by dreaming alone, but also by perseverance, he said.



Sri K Devananda Kamath, our Kochi Committee Convenor was one of the panelist in the discussion. Sri R Bhaskar Shenoi and Sri P K N Bhakta also represented the Trust and gave a power point presentation which was well appreciated by the dignitaries and delegates. Sri Premananda Shenoy, Partner, M/s Roy & Shenoy, Mangalore Sri Ramesh Prabhu, writer and Sri Hareendra Sharma, Doordarshan, Trivandrum, all hailing from Kerala and well wishers of our Trust also contributed in various panel discussions.

Anugraha Charitable Trust sent a seven member delegation who actively participated in the proceedings.
A resolution was unanimously passed to form a GSB Global Youth Sanghatan and an adhoc committee with an advisory board was also formed. Such a forum is expected to take various suggestions evolved in this meet and contribute towards harnessing the energy of GSB Youths for various constructive activities and development of the society.
